The Children’s Action Alliance is an independent voice for AZ children at the state capitol and in the community. CAA works to improve children’s health, education, and security through information and action.
Their scores track votes on several bills that CAA analyzed and took a stand on during the 2019 session. The “Who’s For Kids and Who’s Just Kidding” Report also gives easy to understand information about the continuing needs of our state’s children.
The League is a coalition of AZ’s cities and towns whose mission is to promote local self-government, municipal independence and provide professional and high quality assistance to the municipal governments in our state.
Although the League didn’t issue an official report or scorecard, the League examines votes on every bill and determines which legislators are most friendly to the mission of the League and names legislators as either “Friends” or “Champions.” This year, I earned the League’s highest honor.
PROGRESS NOW AZ
Progress Now AZ is an organization that promote progressive issues and public policy solutions, to correct right-wing misinformation and to hold elected officials accountable.
Progress Now AZ examined 36 different bills to determine if they were good or bad for AZ, then reported how legislators voted on each of those bills. Based on those scores, each legislator was given a percentage score and a corresponding letter grade.
Secular AZ works to ensure a secular state government and to educate about the importance of secular issues. They advocate on behalf of all individuals who believe that public policy free of religious preference is the best way to ensure freedom of conscience for Arizonans of all faiths and of none.
In their “2019 Legislative Scores and Wrap-Up” report, Secular AZ details how they scored votes on several bills and bills that were sponsored by every member of the legislature to come up with a numerical score. They then rank all legislators based on those scores.
The Sierra Club is one of the country’s oldest grassroots environmental organizations that works to protect AZ’s wild places, wildlife, and waters, as well as the people and communities who depend on them.
The Sierra Club examined legislators’ attendance and votes on several bills that impacted the environment. Their 2019 Environmental Report card gives details on each of the bills and gives detailed reasons for ranking each legislator based on those votes. I was 1 of only 4 legislators to get an A+, the highest score, earning me a “Sustainability Super Star” designation.
